The Video Partner Program helps creators financially support themselves by making Rec Room content and rallying support from their communities. Video partners unlock a ‘support’ button in their profile, on their rec.net page, and a custom video partner code that they can give out in their videos.

For every player that enters the partner’s code or supports them the video partner will earn 7.5% of all of that player’s Rec Room Store purchases (after platform fees) until their support ends. Partners are given access to a dashboard where they can see stats on their supporters, how much money they have earned from supporter spending, and how to transfer that money to themselves. How to Become a Video Partner

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5,000 or more followers on one or more of the following: YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, Twitter, Instagram

  • At least a few posts (within the past few months) showcasing Rec Room content so that the team can evaluate your suitability for a partnership. The more posts and videos the better

  • Your Rec Room account is not a Junior account

  • Your Rec Room account has a verified email address

  • Your Rec Room account passes a moderation review

  • Be 18 years of age or older, or 13 - 17 years of age with a parent or guardian's permission. When receiving cash payments from the program using our payment partner Tipalti, a parent or guardian must provide their own payment information for anyone age 13 - 17

  • Even if you meet all of the above requirements we may reject applications that are not a good fit for the program

 
 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Once you’ve been accepted into the program you’ll work with the Rec Room team to pick a custom video partner code. You can give out your code in your videos, on your socials, or wherever you like. You can also direct people to your rec.net profile page or your in game profile where they can click your ‘Support’ button. Clicking the support button has the same effect as entering your Rec Room code in game.

Whenever a player who supports you makes a purchase in the Rec Room Store (buying tokens or a Rec Room Plus subscription) you earn 7.5% of that purchase (after platform fees). The player’s support lasts for 45 days until it needs to be renewed and the player can renew their support at any time.

EXAMPLES:

  1. You have 500 supporters, and they spend a total of $4,000 in Rec Room in a given month. After the 30% platform fee (Steam, Apple, Sony, etc) Rec Room receives $2,800. You earn 7.5% which is $210.

  2. You have 60,000 supporters, and they spend a total of $75,000 in Rec Room in a given month. After the 30% platform fee Rec Room receives $52,500. You earn 7.5% which is $3,937.50.

The minimum amount needed to initiate a transfer to your bank is $50 USD or the equivalent in your local currency. The maximum you can cash out in one month is currently $10,000 USD. Any amount earned over $10,000 a month is still stored in your video partner account and can be transferred in the next month(s). You can only transfer funds once per calendar month. All supporter stats and transfers take place in a dashboard that is unlocked on rec.net when the player is accepted into the video partner program.

The 7.5% video partner reward and 45 days of support are promotional rates that may be adjusted over time. Other programs typically offer a 2 - 5% reward with only 7 - 14 days of support so we encourage creators to apply to the Video Partner Program during this early phase!

FAQ

Can I be a Video Partner and a Partnered Creator (in game creator) at the same time?

  • Yes!

Is this program only for people making videos?

  • No! The program is also open to Rec Room photographers, artists, DJs, event hosts, musicians, meme creators, and more. We think the majority of partners will end up creating videos as part of the program so we decided to call it the video partner program even though the program does support creators, community builders, and influencers across a wide range of mediums.

What purchases count towards the 7.5% reward?

  • Rec Token purchases and Rec Room Plus subscriptions made in the official Rec Room Store count towards the 7.5% reward. Rec Room Plus subscriptions count every month the player stays subscribed, is active in Rec Room (logs in at least once that month), and is still supporting the video partner. Once the player has Rec Tokens in their account and spends them on in game items or experiences, those are collected by Partnered Creators and not the video partner.

Does this program limit what games I can play, make videos about, or stop me from participating in other partner programs?

  • No! Rec Room Video Partners do not have any of these restrictions.

Can I support more than one video partner?

  • You can only support one video partner at a time. However you can change who you support at any time.

When will I hear back about my application?

  • If your application is selected you’ll hear from us within a few weeks of submissions ending.
