Senior Game Designer 

Rec Room is a virtual social club where you play and create games with friends. We are hiring for a Senior (Sr.) Game Designer to work on our core player experience. As a Sr. Game Designer you will focus on creating delightful interactions and gameplay mechanics across multiple platforms (ie. mobile, console, VR). You will set the creative direction for our player experience, including prototyping and creating new solutions for our community. As a Sr Game Designer you will also mentor junior designers and step in cross functionally across the larger company as needed. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience designing, building and shipping games and/or gaming  systems

  • 1+ year(s) of experience working on social gameplay and/or building features for online communities

  • Experience shipping at least one multiplayer game(s) 

  • Experience with working with game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or something similar 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, autonomous and ambiguous environment.

  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience designing for multiple platforms (mobile, console, VR)

  • Experience working on a live service

  • Lead designer experience


SR. GAME DEV

We need a full-time Game Engineer. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

We are a small, agile team so you’ll be expected to work on a broad variety of features and systems. We will also expect you to contribute creatively by being involved in the design process, and proactively prototyping new ideas and solutions.

 

REQUIREMENTs

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

  • Minimum five years of experience in games or a closely-related field – we want to see shipped games (small/indie games are fine)

  • Fluency in networking and multiplayer concepts

  • Strong 3D math background (e.g., linear algebra, vector math)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluency in C#

  • Experience with Unity, Unreal, or a similar game engine

  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments.

  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

 

BONUS POINTS

  • Strong background in Augmented and/or Virtual Reality technologies (e.g., HTC Vive, Steam VR, Oculus Rift, etc.)

  • Recent console experience (e.g., PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

SR. SERVER DEV

We need a full-time Senior Server Engineer. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

You’ll be primarily responsible for the design and development of the Azure cloud services powering our game. We are a small, agile team so you’ll be expected to work on a broad variety of features and systems. We will also expect you to contribute creatively by being involved in the design process, and proactively prototyping new ideas and solutions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5 years writing and maintaining cloud services using .NET/C#

  • Experience with Entity Framework, ASP.NET, and WCF

  • Knowledge of synchronization techniques in stateless distributed systems, and experience building RESTful API backend services

  • Experience using various cloud storage systems (SQL, NoSQL, Blob storage, etc.) and an understanding of the tradeoffs between them

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments

  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

BONUS POINTS

We need a full-time Server Engineer. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

Rec.net

We need a full-time Full Stack Web Developer. You will be working in our Seattle, WA office.

Rec Room supports a growing community of users from all around the world. Our mission is to ensure that Rec Room is a fun and welcoming environment for people from all walks of life.

Our community can’t spend 24/7 in the app (yet!), but we’ve expanded the ways our community can interact even when they’re not inside of Rec Room via our website, Rec.net.  We’re looking for a self-driven full stack engineer who can design, build and deploy a website that interacts with the Rec Room app.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Extremely strong eye for UI/UX and design of web interfaces.
