Laser Tag Tournament 2020
We’re hosting an official Laser Tag Tournament! Battle it out in the dark corners of Hangar and the streets of Cyberjunk City to find out who will prevail in this first official Laser Tag Tournament. Sign ups will open Tuesday, July 7th and will close Tuesday, July 21st. Once sign ups are closed, we will post the bracket and schedule. The number of matches played will depend on how many people sign up. Please read the rules and scroll down to the bottom to find the link to sign up. The event will be kicking off at 12:00 PM PDT on Saturday, July 25th, and will last the remainder of the day.
Rules:
All players must have a registered Rec Room account.
Players will form teams themselves. This tournament is open to all platforms (PS4, PSVR, PC, PCVR, iOS, Oculus Quest), and both movement types (Teleport and Walking). Only teams of three will be allowed. Only the team leader needs to sign up on behalf of all members of the group. Team members can not be on more than one team. No shorthanded teams!
Please provide a team name for your team of three players. This is the name that we will be using during commentary while officiating, to address your team, etc. Make sure that your team name follows the Code of Conduct.
You must be available and ready to play at the beginning of your time slot. Players that are not reachable during their time slot will be forced to forfeit.
Players and officials will meet up in ^LaserTagTourney before their matches. In an effort to organize players, we will have subrooms numbered from 1-4. The information to determine which subroom your team has to head into will be posted along with the schedule and brackets. Please make sure you head to the right subroom and show up 10 minutes before your match time. If your team is not scheduled to play matches soon, please leave the room to ensure there is enough space for other contestants to join.
Once the schedule is posted, time slots and match times will not be rescheduled. Delays may occur if matches take longer than expected.
Once a match begins, it will be played until it ends. There will be no pausing or timeouts.
There will be no rematches unless a game breaking bug causes all players to disconnect. In this case, regardless of the score before disconnecting, matches will be replayed in their entirety.
Matches will be observed and streamed by volunteer/vetted Officials. If cheating, hacking, or conduct related issues occur, they will be handled by Rec Room staff. Forms of cheating include but are not limited to the abuse of player height, shooting/moving through map geometry, and lag/connection manipulation.
Before each match, teams will have the option to agree on what map to play. If an agreement cannot be made, the map will be chosen by a dice roll. Team colors will be determined by a dice roll.
Players must place their controllers on the ground before each match to prove their height. Hands may not be completely under the ground or more than six inches above the ground. Any player height manipulation will result in the team’s forfeit.
Ducking may result in a player’s torso going underground. However, shoulders and heads must remain above the ground at all times. Here is an example of as low as you are allowed to go while ducking:
Using a bug that allows you to displace the grenades on your hand in VR to throw them at insanely high speeds is banned. Blocking players on the opposing team during a match is banned. If you are facing another team and they have a player that you have blocked in the past, we are asking you to unblock them during the duration of your match. You may re-block them after the match is over.
There are no rules about how much you can use certain weapons or items. Use every tool at your disposal to claim the victory. Spawn killing will be tolerated.
Preliminary matches will last six minutes where advanced matches will last ten minutes. The championship will be a best of three, ten minute matches. The points needed to win a match will be set to 400. The tournament will be single elimination.
3rd place winning team will be decided by having a match between the losing teams in the semi-finals.
Unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated. We encourage players to be competitive, but not hostile. As always, please adhere to the Rec Room Code of Conduct and be excellent to each other!
Prizes:
1st: 5,000 tokens per player
2nd: 3,000 tokens per player
3rd: 1,000 tokens per player
