Art Contest 3.0

Cheers to the new year! Let’s kick it off with a 2d art contest! Are you a master of Modern Art? An expert at Expressionism? Or just great at Graffiti? We want to see all the beautiful and wonderful things you’re creating!

How do I submit art to the contest?

There are three categories you can submit art to:

  • Character

    • People and creatures

  • Scenery

    • Primarily focused around environments, architecture, and terrain

  • Abstract

    • Expressionism, designs, graffiti and calligraphy and non-representational themes of objects or characters

The contest will begin on Friday, January 24th, 2020 and end on Sunday February 2nd, 2020. Each player can enter one piece of art in each of three categories: Character, Scenery, or Abstract. Art must be done by marker or paintbrush on a drawable surface, such as a canvas, whiteboard, sticky poster, sticky note, gaming table or clipboard. There will be 20 winners per category for a total of 60 winners.

Bring your art to one of the ^ArtShow Submission events on Sunday, February 2nd, 2020, or contact ryu (discord: Ryukiin#0001) or AL (discord: AL#0675) to enter if you can’t make those times for additional instructions on how to submit your art. All art will be placed in galleries for the players of Rec Room to enjoy!

Rules:

  • One entry per category per person. All entries can have only one creator and will be given one prize.

  • Submissions must not have been submitted in any previous official Rec Room contests.

  • Acceptable media includes canvases, whiteboards, sticky posters, sticky notes, gaming tables, and clipboards.

  • All media must not be scaled larger than their normal size at the time of being submitted, with the exception of the sticky notes and clipboards, which may be scaled as large as the largest dimension of the sticky poster. Submissions can have any orientation (landscape or portrait). Submissions can be scaled up or down as necessary during the creation process before they have been submitted.

  • No maker pen embellishments (gizmos, shapes, etc) are allowed to remain on the submissions. Gizmos, shapes and circuits can be used to help create the art prior to submission, but must be removed prior to submitting.

  • Art must be brought via invention to one of the ^ArtShow Submissions events. If you cannot make any of the three times, please contact @ryu or @kirien before Saturday February 1st, 2020 11:59 PM PST. Submission cannot be guaranteed after this point.

  • Disputes: If the origin of any art piece is disputed, players will need to prove ownership. We recommend that you work on your piece in a room that you have created.

  • Players must have a confirmed email on their Rec Room account so that we can contact them if they win.

  • All submissions must abide by the Rec Room Code of Conduct.

  • This contest is not open to players using a Junior Account due to current restrictions around juniors and the creation tools.

Prize:

We’ll have twenty category winners, chosen by Rec Room staff, in three categories. Each winner will get a new yellow contest shirt!

First time winners will be issued their prize.

Winners with multiple art entries will receive an email to coordinate gifting their extra prize.
