Learn how to spice up your dorm room in this 3-week workshop. We will teach you how to decorate, personalize, and make creative use of your dorm room by creating a dorm room skin.
In this workshop you will learn:
The basics of creating art and using circuits with the Maker Pen.
How to select a color scheme for your dorm room theme.
How to create decorations like plants and furniture.
How to spawn in your dorm room skin from your inventions.
Course Layout
The workshop will last 3 weeks with a total of 6 lessons and 5 days for projects.
3 Lessons a week: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
Class Times:
Class 1: 10am-11am PST
Class 2: 3pm-4pm PST
Start Date: Thursday January 14th, 2021
End Date: Monday February 1st, 2021

Two things to consider before signing up for this course; this is intended for players who are new to the creative tools, and you will need to be able to dedicate some of your time over the course of the class. It is not especially demanding, but we will not let you complete the course if you do not attend the lessons and complete your final project.
You can sign up via the MakerPenClass Discord at https://discord.gg/KPyJ3Jh Classes/availability will fill up on a first-come first-served basis. You will be assigned to a class if there are any spaces left and can ask the instructors any questions you might have in the #DormRoomWorkshop-chat channel! Announcements will be made in the #dormroom-workshop-chat channel.
The course will consist of three weekly meetings over a total of 2 weeks. You will start off learning about basic tools and circuits with several exercises. After you have attended all lessons for the workshop, you will have until Monday, February 1st, 2021 to complete your own dorm room skin. Once you have completed the final project successfully, you will be given a graduation gown avatar item on Friday, February 5th, 2021! The top 10 dorm room skins will be chosen to be featured in a dorm room block party event on Saturday, February 6th, 2021.
Additionally, you must also be respectful to others in the class. Remember, everyone learns differently and at different paces, so keep the ego out of the class. If not, you will be removed from the class.

Schedule
Week 1:
Thursday: Introduction to Maker Pen and learn how to spawn in your dorm room skin.
Friday: Learn how to use Materials by creating walls and doors with different textures and colors.
Saturday: Learn about Tubes and how makes curves, furniture, and plants.
Week 2:
Thursday: Learn more tube techniques, how to choose a color palette, and partition their dorm room.
Friday: Learn how to use different kinds of lights with simple circuitry.
Saturday: Learn how to make a piston elevator and apply those skills to be able to switch your dorm room skin.
Week 3:
Work on your dorm room skin.
Week 4:
Monday: Have your dorm room skin complete and turned in.
Friday: Graduation
Saturday: Dorm Room Block Party Event
